We are Family Owned & Operated Since 1943

Founded in 1943 by the Pedersen Brothers, Pederson & Arnold was originally a full lumber mill that proudly supplied the bay area with cabinets, windows, doors, lumber, and a wide selection of building materials. Today, we carry hundreds of in-stock mouldings and offer custom-match mouldings of your choice. We also build custom wood cabinetry for kitchens, vanities, entertainment centers, mantels, and bookcases - all tailored to your specifications.

Our History

After a large fire burnt the entire operation down in the late 40’s. “Arnie” (Arnold Pedersen) was left with no choice but to rebuild the company from the ground up. In the mid to early 80s, large box stores began to make it very hard to compete with lumber and other building materials, so the decision was made to downsize the operation and focus on building high-quality custom cabinets and mouldings.

Moving the company just down the street to where it still remains today.
Several years later, Arnold decided it was time to retire, debating selling the company or just closing up shop for good. Two Brothers ( Charlie and Joe Chetcuti) who had both been working for Arnie for some 20+ years, made an offer to purchase the company. A deal was struck and the Chetcutis have owned and operated the company ever since.

Pedersen & Arnold continues to keep a part of San Mateo history alive right in the heart of downtown.
